What is Church? A Very Big Question Book from the Precocious Child Series.

Join Avery, a curious 4-year-old, as she explores big questions about faith and spirituality with her mom. Through a gentle, thoughtful conversation, “What Is Church?” introduces young readers to different religions, encouraging curiosity, understanding, and respect for diverse beliefs.

In this charming and easy-to-read book, Avery’s mother answers questions about various places of worship, explaining how people around the world express their faith in unique ways. Perfect for parents, teachers, and caregivers, this book helps introduce complex ideas to children in an age-appropriate, slightly controversial, and engaging format.

What happens when a child asks a question that doesn’t have a simple answer?

In Is Opa a Girl?, curious and inquisitive Avery wants to understand something new, something big. She’s fishing with her Opa when she suddenly asks a very direct question: “Are you a girl?”

What follows is a thoughtful, age-appropriate conversation about gender identity, the difference between how we look on the outside and how we feel on the inside, and the importance of embracing people just as they are. Appropriate for children ages 3-8.

Have fun learning to rhyme with Lisa Michelle’s book!

“Chicken Butt, Chicken Butt” will make you laugh out loud when you explore all kinds of funny rhymes with your child. Perfect for children 3-5.

This book was inspired by a delightfully silly game. My spouse, Lon, and I were talking to our Granddaughter, Avery, over Skype, and she asked if she could tell us a joke. We said, “Sure,” and she promptly said, “Chicken Butt!” Lon looked at me and whispered, “Is that the joke?” I whispered back, “Yes, I think so. We should laugh.” We laughed and a very delighted Avery just giggled. She then yelled out, “Chicken Butt, Chicken Butt, it’s in your eye!” So, as any self-respecting Grandmother would do, I immediately yelled back, “Chicken Butt, Chicken Butt, on your thigh!” Since Avery is learning to rhyme, the conversation degraded to all sorts of rhymes accompanying the words, “Chicken Butt, Chicken Butt.” Needless to say, we had a wonderful time… and thus, this book was born. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
